[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]There are different types of arthritis including Inflammatory Arthritis and Rheumatoid Arthritis. All are very painful, especially during ‘flare-ups” and all affect the patient by restricting movement and mobility.
Inflammatory Arthritis is caused by an overactive immune system and most commonly affects different joints in the body at the same time.
Rheumatoid Arthritis is a chronic inflammatory disorder that affects the joints in the body but can also affect other body systems such as the skin, eyes, etc.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css_animation=”” row_type=”row” use_row_as_full_screen_section=”no” type=”full_width” angled_section=”no” text_align=”left” background_image_as_pattern=”without_pattern” css=”.vc_custom_1643420635196{padding-bottom: 2.5% !important;background-color: #ffffff !important;}” z_index=””][vc_column][vc_row_inner row_type=”row” type=”grid” text_align=”left” css_animation=””][vc_column_inner][vc_column_text]
[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Our surgeons can help relieve and treat these conditions through surgery such as joint replacement to help our patients get back a greater quality of life and activity. The reason for surgery is always to help each patient with both pain relief, mobility, and a greater quality of life.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css_animation=”” row_type=”row” use_row_as_full_screen_section=”no” type=”full_width” angled_section=”no” text_align=”left” background_image_as_pattern=”without_pattern” css=”.vc_custom_1643420635196{padding-bottom: 2.5% !important;background-color: #ffffff !important;}” z_index=””][vc_column][vc_row_inner row_type=”row” type=”grid” text_align=”left” css_animation=””][vc_column_inner][vc_column_text]
[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]All patients will be advised and consulted with our specialised surgeons who will discuss options like joint replacements for example. Prior to the actual surgery in most cases, you will receive anesthetic to help with pain relief.
This surgery involves replacing all or just some of the damaged arthritic joints for example and inserting a synthetic replacement.
With advancements in not only technology but prosthetics, our surgeons are always looking at the best option case by case.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css_animation=”” row_type=”row” use_row_as_full_screen_section=”no” type=”full_width” angled_section=”no” text_align=”left” background_image_as_pattern=”without_pattern” css=”.vc_custom_1643420753815{padding-bottom: 5% !important;background-color: #ffffff !important;}” z_index=””][vc_column][vc_row_inner row_type=”row” type=”grid” text_align=”left” css_animation=””][vc_column_inner][vc_column_text]
[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Each surgery is different, depending on the severity of the condition and the specific surgery performed. For some, this may mean you can go home from the hospital the same day, whilst others may need to stay longer. You will have this information before you go into surgery so you know what to expect.
There will be some level of discomfort and pain killers will be prescribed to help patients deal with the pain after surgery. It’s a good idea to have someone with you when you have your consultation at the hospital so they can note what your specific recommendations are with regards to rest, recovery, pain management, etc.
You might need crutches for a few weeks or slings depending on what area of the body has been treated. Your physio or physical therapist will work with you on a recovery program so you are supported back to mobility and pain-free movement.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css_animation=”” row_type=”row” use_row_as_full_screen_section=”no” type=”full_width” angled_section=”no” text_align=”left” background_image_as_pattern=”without_pattern”][vc_column][vc_row_inner row_type=”row” type=”full_width” text_align=”left” css_animation=””][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″ css=”.vc_custom_1603956153664{background-color: #e6f2f1 !important;}”][qode_elements_holder number_of_columns=”one_column”][qode_elements_holder_item vertical_alignment=”middle” horizontal_alignment=”center” advanced_animations=”no” background_color=”#e6f2f1″][vc_column_text]
