We welcome patients with any medical insurance cover, we are approved providers for Southern Cross and NIB insurance, and self-funding patients. Self-funding patients must pay for consultations on the day of their appointment.

We have happy to provide a second opinion, however we prefer not to provide second opinions on other Surgeons within our practice.

We can offer surgery at Bowen Hospital in Crofton Downs, and Wakefield and Southern Cross Hospital in Newtown.

Rachel is a New Zealand trained and qualified orthopaedic surgeon specialising in upper limb surgery with a special interest in arthroscopic shoulder surgery and shoulder arthroplasty.
A graduate of Otago medical school she completed her orthopaedic training throughout central New Zealand, finishing her final years in Wellington.
After advanced surgical training she completed the Upper Limb Fellowship in Wellington, before becoming a fellow of the Brisbane Shoulder fellowship concentrating on advanced arthroscopic surgery and complex shoulder arthroplasty.
Rachel now lives with her family in Wellington where she practices publicly at Capital and Coast Wellington Hospital and privately consults at Wellington Orthopaedic and Sports Surgeons, operating out of Bowen and Southern Cross hospitals.
She consults and operates on all aspects of upper limb, predominantly the shoulder but including elbow wrist and hand.
A graduate of Otago University who then completed specialist training in Orthopaedics in New Zealand and post graduate training as an Arthroplasty Fellow in London, Ontario, Canada. He is a Senior Lecturer in Orthopaedic Surgery at the Wellington School of Medicine.
Peter’s special interest is in primary and revision surgery for Total Hip and Knee Joint Replacement Trauma Reconstruction. Mr Devane is nationally and internationally recognised for his research involving modes of failure of Total Hip Replacement and Polyethylene Wear.

Gareth qualified in medicine in 1999 and completed the Orthopaedic Training Programme in New Zealand. His post graduate clinical and research fellowships in Primary Revision Arthroplasty and Foot and Ankle Surgery were in Perth and Melbourne, Australia. Gareth is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Surgeons, and a member of the New Zealand Orthopaedic Association.
Gareth specialises in knee arthroscopy, ACL reconstruction and hip and knee joint replacements.

Gareth is an Orthopaedic Surgeon and Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, specialising in Foot and Ankle surgery. He has a particular interest in ankle and hindfoot arthritis. He is an expert in all aspects of foot and ankle pathology, as well as hip replacement and lower limb trauma. In addition, as part of his public practice at Wellington Hospital, Gareth treats patients with pelvic, acetabular, or complex peri-articular trauma, including the use of circular hexapod external fixators.
Gareth completed his medical degree at the University of Edinburgh and further surgical training in the UK and New Zealand. After finishing his advanced orthopaedic training in New Zealand, he undertook international subspecialty training as the Major Trauma Fellow in Liverpool, UK, and the Foot and Ankle Fellow in Calgary, Canada.
Gareth is a member of the New Zealand Orthopaedic Association and the Royal College of Surgeons (UK). He also holds memberships in the New Zealand Foot and Ankle Society, the New Zealand Trauma Society, the AO surgical trauma foundation and an associate membership in the Orthopaedic Trauma Society (UK). He lives with his family in Wellington.

He specialises in hip and knee surgery. He performs hip replacement, hip arthroscopy and preservation surgery, and knee replacement.
Woo-Sung is committed to teaching and has an undergraduate teaching placement at University of Otago Medical School in Wellington. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and is a member of NZOA and NZ Hip Society.

Nigel Willis is a New Zealand trained and qualified Orthopaedic Surgeon, specialising in Foot and Ankle surgery, as well as Trauma and Limb Reconstruction.
Born and bred in Wellington, Nigel graduated from Otago University Medical School in 1987 and qualified as a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in 1988. He then underwent further orthopaedic training in Canada and Oxford, UK.
Nigel has a special interest in lower limb joint replacement and arthroscopy surgery. In addition to this, he continues to provie a general orthopaedic service for specific range of upper limb pathologies, such as Carpal Tunnel & Tennis Elbow.
Nigel is based at Wellington Orthopaedic & Sports Surgeons, with clinics available at Bowen, Mana Orthopaedics and Kapiti (Team Medical). He operates at Bowen Hospital.
Justin lives and works in Wellington and is a fully trained Orthopaedic Surgeon graduate of Otago University. He is a fellow of the New Zealand Orthopaedic Association.

He graduated from Leeds Medical School in 2004, and completed his Orthopaedic training in Manchester in 2014.
Giles undertook 2 years fellowship training in hip and knee replacement at Wrightington Hospital, UK and here in Wellington. He has travelled widely to study joint replacement surgery, with clinical visitations to Australia, Northern Ireland, Japan and the USA. Giles has also completed an AO Trauma Fellowship at Hannover Medical School in Germany.
Giles now consults on all aspects of hip and knee pathology. He has a particular interest in the management of painful and infected joint replacements.
He performs primary, complex primary and revision hip and knee replacements as well as knee arthroscopy.

Jonathon’s sub-specialty training in spinal surgery occurred at Royal Adelaide Hospital, Australia as a combined neuro/ortho spinal fellow for one year including adult and paediatric spinal surgery. He also trained in the spinal unit at CHU Pellegrin, Bordeaux, France with Professor J.C Le Huec for complex adult deformity surgery as well as a short AO spinal fellowship at Queens Medical Centre, Nottingham UK.
He consults on spinal issues with a particular focus on the lumbar spine and paediatric/adult spinal deformity. He has a public position at CCDHB – Wellington Hospital.
